From Good to Great
Team X
A project involving a renowned financial institution which offered facilities (such as coaches and staff, practice facilities, communication, clothing, materials and financial support) to a number of selected sport federations in order to lift the sports concerned to Olympic levels. In consideration thereof, the sports federations were to grant a license to the communication possibilities of both the sports federations themselves and the individual athletes concerned. For that purpose heads of agreement and co-operation contracts with the sports federations as well as sponsorship contracts with individual athletes have been drafted, whereby the obligations of the sports federations vis-à-vis the financial institution had to be back-to back with the obligations of the individual athlete vis-à-vis the sports federation concerned. The project was not implemented because it did not receive the approval of the financial institutions' Supervisory Board.
Volvo Ocean Race
On behalf of the Municipality of Rotterdam the contract for the staging of the Rotterdam Stopover as part of the 2006 Volvo Ocean Race was negotiated with Volvo Event Management UK Ltd ("Volvo"). After signing, the contract has been assigned to Stichting Rotterdam Stopover, the foundation that organized the Rotterdam Stopover. Advice has been rendered on the legal aspects of this event. An important aspect was that the obligations on the part of the foundation vis-à-vis Volvo had to be back-back in contracts entered into by the foundation with third parties. Such contracts included contracts for catering services, hospitality tents, facilities and local sponsors.
Venhuizen/KNSB
On behalf of Karen Venhuizen, a 7 time national champion figure skating, legal proceedings were enhanced against the KNSB, the Dutch Ice Skating Federation, because Venhuizen wanted the KNSB to reconsider its decision to send Martine Zuiderwijk, at that time Holland's number 2, to the 2005 World Championships in Moscow instead of Venhuizen. The legal proceedings were won and the KNSB was ordered to send Venhuizen to the 2005 World Championships.
Cono
The drafting and negotiating of a sponsorship contract on behalf of Cono, whereby 2 time world champions sailing (470), Berkhout en de Koning, are financially supported by Cono for the duration of an Olympic cycle in consideration for their endorsement of "Beemster Lite" cheeses produced by Cono.
Reebok
Advice on the enforceability of Dutch law in respect of Reebok's right of first refusal to renew a contract in a standard personal endorsement and consultancy contract.
Koninklijke Sanders
The drafting and negotiating of an endorsement contract whereby a famous Dutch beauty specialist receives a remuneration for his endorsement of hair and (hair)cosmetic products of Koninklijke Sanders and is obliged to actively assist in the development of related new products.
Rev'it
The review and revision of the general sales conditions of Rev'it!, a company which sells motorcycling clothing under the trademark Rev'it!
Siemens Open
Advice on and the revision of sponsorship contracts entered into by the organization of the Siemens Open tennis tournament. The Siemens Open is a men's tennis tournament of the Challenger category that is held annually in Scheveningen, the Netherlands. In 2006 the tournament received a prize for best organized Challenger on the ATP Tour.
The Championships
Advice rendered to a party interested in organizing The Championships, the official championships of the Women's Tennis Association ("WTA"), in the Netherlands. Advice was rendered in relation to the bid procedure prescribed by the WTA and included advice on presentations to be given and the organization of the event itself.
Congres
From Good to Great
